Kinematic lyrics
Singer/songwriters Gordon Clarke & Michael Owen team up as their indie bands Snorkel & Aspirin call it a day. The duo meet once a week to demo their first co-written songs, acoustic style.
The songwriting and demo recording culminates in November with Starting Again, a raw, home-recorded, acoustic EP.
Michael Clarke and Mark Olszewski join on bass and drums and Kinematic begins in eanrest. The So Green single is recorded and released in July.  The band's first live gig is the launch for the single in September. A video for So Green is made by the band and included on the single.
The year is spent on pre-production for a debut album, with the occasional gig thrown in.  15 tracks are recorded for Time & Place during a hectic nine days straight in November.
Time & Place goes into post-production mode (i.e. not much happens for a long while).  Kinematic shoot their own video for the lead track Tripitaka-san. Songs for a second album take shape during the year and 10 of them are recorded during another November week.
Time & Place is released in June and launched in October. The second album goes into post-production (that's band-speak for putting it on a shelf, where it's destined to stay for almost two years). A whole swag of new songs are written for a third album.
Love & Graffiti (the first single since So Green) is released in July. Time & Place sells out, so the band decide to give it away in MP3 format. More new songs join the list of potential tracks for album three.
The 38th Parallel is the title given to the long-delayed second album, based on the line of latitude that runs through their home town of Melbourne. In a sudden flurry of activity, it gets dusted off, mixed, mastered and released in April. The same month sees Kinematic play their first festival at Apollo Bay. A video for moody album opener Carnivale is in production during the second half of the year.
The band are busy with pre-production for album #3, with recording slated for March '08.
