| Melbourne's Kinematic released their acclaimed debut album, Time & Place, less than a year ago, but already their sophomore release is close to completion - the result of faintly familiar indie timing that meant their second album was recorded before the debut was finally launched. | |||||
| Kinematic's second album, The 38th Parallel, promises more of their penchant for melancholic melody, but with a darker twist. The album traverses the array of musical styles that Kinematic love to plunder - be it Cash-tinged country or Sparklehorse-like trashy power pop - while always maintaining their unique sensibility for simple, stripped-back and singable pop tunes. | |||||
| As a precursor to The 38th Parallel's Spring release, the infectious first single, Love & Graffiti, is being launched at The Corner Hotel on the 22nd of July. Backed up by the beautiful acoustic B-side Black Dahlia, the single will be released online through Somersault Music but also as a limited edition disc available exclusively at the launch. Punters can expect Kinematic to maintain their high standards for the release, including original artwork that will never again be available. | |||||
