Kinematic bio
September 2007

A fiercely independent act, Kinematic’s first single So Green was released in 2002. The single and accompanying video were self-produced and self-financed, which set the precedent for all that followed.
2005 saw the release of their debut album Time & Place, an album that continues to gather praise at home and overseas. Another video made by the band for lead track Tripitaka-san appeared several times on Rage, and community stations across the country picked up on a variety of songs from the album. After the initial pressing sold out, the band posted free MP3s of the album on their website, and it’s been downloaded to over 30 countries so far.
A second album followed in 2007, titled The 38th Parallel after the line of latitude that runs through the band’s home town of Melbourne. It was launched at the 2007 Apollo Bay Music Festival and once again local radio stations RRR and PBS gave the band a generous amount of airplay and support. A video for the moody opening track Carnivale is currently in production, and is due out at the end of the year.
While best known now as an indie pop outfit, the band have always mixed their genres - acoustic, alt. country and rock tunes appear on all their recordings, and acoustic performances are a regular event. 2008 will see the band back in the studio tackling a third album, and hitting the road for a bit of touring action.
