| Greatest rock moment: | There's so many to choose from ... meeting Steve Harris backstage at Festival Hall when Maiden toured in the late '80s. Surviving the front row of the mosh pit at Metallica in '89. Nirvana at the Palace in '92. Touring with the Clowns of Decadence in the mid '90s. But there are memorable Kinematic gigs too ... like the time I broke a guitar string in the first 20 seconds of a song. Changing guitars became a comedy of errors: untwist guitar strap, untangle leads, strap falls off, put strap back on, lead falls out, plug lead back in, etc, etc. I was finally back in action ... just in time to strum the very last chord of the song to big cheers from the punters. Felt just like Derek Smalls finally making it out of his plastic cocoon, a perfect 'Spinal Tap' moment. |
